A raku firing involves bringing glazed bisqueware up to a high temperature, removing it rapidly from the kiln and into a fireproof container of combustibles- what could be a more fun way to spend a Saturday!? Your pieces must be ALREADY BISQUGED BEFORE THE EVENT. Throughout the afternoon we will glaze our work, snack and BBQ, and hang out while they heat up! We are only hosting one raku workshop this spring and space is very limited, so sign up today! More workshops will be announced for the spring. Raku pottery isn't food safe so keep that in mind! Included in the cost of class will be: 12.5 lbs of clay, an assortment of glazes/horsehair/feathers, access and cost of our raku kiln, and food for lunch! This course will not be discounted further for members, as it is a members only event. More clay is available upon request, ask staff for more info. You are welcome to bring more food/snacks for potluck and anyone to hang out. This event is held at Chelsi's home in Dracut (about 15 minutes from the studio) so her family and pets will be there! For more information about raku firings, chat with staff or members, or do some of your own googling! We also have Instagram posts tagged #potterymillraku from last year with some of the finished work. For horsehair etc look into burnishing too.
Is it Oct 7 or 8th? 8th is a Sunday!
