Hey folks, please read this post and like it once you’ve done so. In January, we will be increasing the membership subscription price by $9. Due to the increasing costs of our rent, supplies, and utilities we have to make this increase. Fortunately with our large group of community studio members we can keep this increase as low as possible for each of you. All other costs in the studio will remain the same at this time.

This increase is in effect for new memberships subscriptions now, but for all of our current members you will see an additional charge from our Stripe account starting in January. We’re able to give you these next two months without increase so you don’t get startled with a sudden change. If your card fails on your subscription in the next two months, you will need to repurchase your subscription at the new price…

Chelsi-Is there a way to update card info on file? I know I just got a new card.

Happy warm sunny Wednesday potters! I’ve got a list of announcements for you so take a minute to read through ☀️

  1. A few summers ago we did a tie dye day where you could preorder a shirt designed by us and then we all dyed them together and we’d love to do that again in June! Probably around lunch time on a weekend day. But we want to creat a new design so I wanna know your ideas! Any pottery themed design is good, not necessarily with our logos large on it. Let me know your ideas in the comments and we’ll make a pile for scheduling next week.

  2. Also in June we’re planning our Sidewalk Sale!!! This will be 10-3 on 6/29 with a rain date on 7/6. Send me a message if you want to sign up. This will not be a community table sale but instead a…

Can I be included on the gallery email too please? Thanks!

Bisque unloaded! We also have an exciting announcement to make: Pottery Mill will be exhibiting at the John Greenwald Gallery in downtown Lowell, and we would love to show off your stuff! The exhibition dates are from August 14 to September 8. We're looking for pottery suited to be in a gallery setting, which can mean things like high craftmanship, sculptural work, conceptual, and/or just visually pleasing to look at. If any of you have questions about what this means, please let me know! I love talking art and what art means in the contemporary world, and I would love to help any of you push your craft for a gallery setting. August is a long time from now!

Is this a juried exhibition?

Good morning potters hope you're enjoying a little more snow ❄️ Just a heads up tomorrow afternoon we'll be hosting a wheel workshop with 14 people so we'll be moving some wheels up into the wheel room at 2pm and also using the hand building room for glazing after that. Please plan your time in the studio accordingly as it'll be a busy afternoon!

Also I hope to have a great weekend at Lowell's Winterfest so come on by and check out the art market Friday night and Saturday!

💖 Welcome back!

We have a whole bunch of holiday-ish updates for you guys!

  1. The November community sale at the Nashua YMCA is coming up fast and we would love to have more of you sign up! Check out Jessica's previous post under the studio events tag to follow the steps to sign up. This is an amazing opportunity for members who have little inventory, or don’t want to take the full cost of a craft fair on their own yet.

  2. It’s time to announce our fourth annual Pottery Mill pot swap! Here’s the link to sign up: https://www.elfster.com/gift-exchanges/c02fa016-ccf2-4d92-a161-52ea42ea70a7/?join=yzay. Please sign up before 11/18 and be ready to drop off your gift before the end of the year!

  3. Instead of a shelf decorating contest this year, we will be doing a raffle for members who make an ornament to decorate. The small tree will have in the studio. Please feel free to make…

Anyone have any tips on calculating for clay shrinkage? I’ve watched some videos in the past but never attempted it.

Internship Opportunity!

Hi everyone! I’ll be away for the month of October, so we’re looking for an intern to work at the studio for September + October. Below are some official details:

  • Internship will run from 9/3 - 10/28 for a total of 8 weeks (but there's some leeway if needed).

  • We’re asking for a commitment of 3-4 hours per week. We’d prefer if you came in every Sunday, but we’re flexible!

  • Benefits include: A free bag of clay for every month worked, and free membership for the months of September + October.

  • Some things you will be in charge of include: unloading/loading kilns, recycling clay, and general maintenance of the studio. This is a physical job that can require standing for periods of time.

If you don’t find anyone , I am interested ☺️

Good afternoon everyone! Bisque-y unload-y'ed. And a little announcement is that we now offer a standing wheel. If you're susceptible to a bad back or just wanna try something new, you can find it in the private room next to the spray booth. Have a great Monday :)

Ohhhh! Good to know for those bad days…

Clean up day is only a few hours away! Hope to see you all there.

I have some floor maintenance to do in the bathroom starting this evening through Friday so we have a key to the bathroom out in the hallway. PLEASE DO NOT USE THE STUDIO BATHROOM until I have removed the signs this week.

Sorry to miss this month, we are still out of town. Good luck on Saturday.

Exciting news 🎉🎉🎉 we have two new pottery wheels! They are teal pacificas so we've added them to the wheel room and moved two black pacificas to the new room so we have a relatively cohesive set!

Except that one new wheel was damaged in shipping so please refrain from using that this week until a further update/it's fixed.

The one time workshops, and David's new Sunday night class will be held in the new room too!

Also David's shaved his head ✂️

David, your head looks magical 💇🏻✂️❤️

Good afternoon everyone!

The Sidewalk Sale is only 17 days away! Below I’ll add the Facebook event link if you’d all share that would be amazing! Of course we’d still love for you to join us with a table so I’ll also add that link along with the community table link. Even if you have just a few pieces we want to see you there!

We’ll also have a pottery tool table because we’ve got lots of little goodies we’d like to sell to you guys instead of having them sit in a box.

We also have a glaze unloaded for you and as a reminder it’s week 6 of classes so we have to prioritize some bisque firings to accommodate classes before glaze week 7.

Quick question! If we're participating in the community table, do we also need to fill out the Table Registration Google form? Or is it just one or the other?

Goooood morninggg pottersss!!! We have some exciting news for you all, there's a chance we'll have a pottery booth at Lowell's folk fest this summer (end of July) so we really want to give the community table a try before then! This means we'll be moving forward with a community member table at our sidewalk sale!

Please please please feel free to check out this waiver and submit your pottery for sale! Even if you only have a few pieces this will be a great way to dip your toes into the craft fair waters!

Let me know if you have any questions about the sidewalk sale and as always please SHARE OUR FLYERS on your social media and to friends/family. Every pair of eyes that sees our event increases our chance of a great turnout.

Glaze unloaded today :) And we're now ready to advertise another Private Member table! If you're interested in expanding your available space, firing your stuff in the small kiln, and other such benefits, let me or Jessica know.

If you’d like to check it out yourself, you can find the table in the staff/private room behind some member shelves.

HELLO POTTERS A VERY EXCITING UPDATE the clay closet has moved to the new room!!! The cashbox is currently inside of the closet and the tablet and printer are on the table (for the closest power source). The receipt system is exactly the same as before so really only the location has changed.

🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺

Our new sink is in! This will be a white clay sink located in the new room. The private room no longer has a sink so please wash all white clays in either double sink in the wheel or new room. The single sink will now officially be brown clay only as always all sinks can be used for glaze/wax/etc.

Goooood morning, today we are starting work rearranging the private room. If you have a shelf or table in this room I will be clearing it off to move around and then placing your stuff right back on your shelf. Just a warning things will be moving around this week!

Yikes! I wish I could be there to help today as it will take a looooong time to tackle my space.

⭐️⭐️LIKE THIS POST ONCE YOU HAVE READ IT FULLY!⭐️⭐️

  1. We have been finding tools including ribs, broken loop tools, and plenty of sponge pieces in our recycled clay. This is a safety hazard for David/the pug mill and these things will also end up in your speckled clay so PLEASE keep track of all the tools you are working with. This especially goes for anything you wash/keep in your water bucket.

  2. I moved the BROWN CLAY TOOLS AND SINK into the hand building room. This is in preparation for the private room sink to be disconnected and moved to the new room. This means all white clay should be washed in the private room sink for now until it is disconnected and the new sink in the new room is set up. Thank you for your efforts to keep us clean and organized!

Happy Monday! Some updates for you all we've got new shelves on the way in the HB room AND NEW GREEN WAX RESIST! I hope you all have a much nicer time with smooth wax and washable brushes

A few updates for you all:

  1. Happy snow day please be careful around the studio it's very messy today.

  2. A bisque has been unloaded this morning and the kiln is back up and running correctly after a few electrical issues I had to handle!

  3. The floor in the new room is set and we are currently planing with the floor plan and waiting on drywall so we aren't quite ready to use the room yet. If you need access to the pair of wheels in there please let me know and we can figure that out.

Hi guys just a reminder memberships are going up 6$ this month. For most of you it will look like a separate credit card transaction

Another update for you all! I've moved a section of shelves from the wheel room to the hallways (I messaged each member if they haven't seen that yet) and we had enough pieces to make another column so if there are any members who NEED to move shelves please send me a message and you can do that. I know a few of you have asked for back or knee issues.

Good morning! An exciting update for you all as we slowly prepare to expand into the new room. I've built you all a photo booth for your pottery! There is a large ombré backdrop that you can magnet to the inside as well as smaller square tiles that fit together to create a floor/wall look. There are two large setups for lights so help reduce shadows. Of course please be gentle with the equipment it isn't cheep to replace. I've got some faux foliage to bring in too!

As always this will be a privilege so please sign the additional waiver (rules and QR code are posted on the front) before using it!

This is awesome!

PLEASE LIKE SO I KNO YOU READ. Hi everyone. I wanted to let you guys know in March we will be increasing membership prices to $66. I tried to push it off as long as I could. We have been open about 6 years and haven't had any changes to our memberships. Fortunately we have such a strong community we don't need to increase our memberships substantially and this offset should help with the increased cost of running the studio. I believe art should be accessible to everyone so If anyone has a hardship with this please reach out. You art making is super important to me.

You MUST TALK TO STAFF and sign this agreement before you are allowed to purchase this clay. Please know we are very excited about this new opportunity but are hesitant about the cross contamination.

Do we have to schedule a time to sign the agreement?

Guys I hate to do this but the clay industry is being hit hard with inflation or w/e is going on right now. Clay, glazes and materials have all gone up, as well as the palette prices for delivery. FORTUNATELY! We have a good community with us and because of that I can buy in the best bulk possible and that does help a bit. it also helps because everyones small additions add up faster. Anyways I need to increase the price of clay by 5$ to cover the additional inflation. We haven’t gone up in any costs since 2016 when we opened so I hope you all understand. I’ll have signs made today to put on the supply closet.

As I often say..... I hate when money gets in the way of a good time. But unfortunately the supply chain across industries has been experiencing higher prices and longer lead times.

  1. Hi all :) we have a beautiful new sink in the wheel room! it was definitely time! PLEASE CONTINUE TO WASH YOUR SPLASH PANS IN YOUR SEAT. please use an orange sponge and clean your wheels with the dirty water in your bucket and then bring your bucket to the sink. The water in your bucket should go through THREE strainers. The black one, the white one, and the one in the drain. This helps the LEAST amount of clay to go down the drain. Rinse your sponge and give the wheel a second wipe down. Take the time to move the faucet so it’s not running through the strainer disintegrating more clay. I kno I’m very particular about something’s but this is very important, I want to take care of our beautiful new things and I don’t ever want a plumbing catastroph.

  2. Why can I not bring my splash…
