Hi All, happy new year! I'm a new member of the studio. I started throwing pottery in high-school, stopped for about 15 years before getting back to it last year. I had a question about the pottery we make. Is it safe to put in the microwave? Lately I've been dumping cold coffee I forgot about because I don't want to risk the mug. Do any of you guys microwave your stuff? Since the clay is porous, it's there a chance it will soak up water, expand when microwaved and explode?

I can personally tell you I’ve been microwaving and dishwashing pottery from the studio for the last 3 and a half years (woohoo!) and the only things I’ve noticed are stringing from coffee which is to be expected over such a long time. Only breaks and chips I’ve had are from dropping mugs 😅
