Clay Cost Increase
One of my main goals founding the Pottery Mill is was to make and keep art as accessible as possible, and I want that to continue. Our amazing and large community is what makes all this possible, as the studio is able to front the larger costs to distribute to you all.
We have had to revisit some of the daily costs associated with running the studio. This includes the cost of clay. Unfortunately distributers have gone up in price substantially on both dry materials, clay, kiln supplies, and electricity. While your membership subscriptions and student enrollment go towards the cost of rent and most of our staffs’ time, they don’t cover everything! We haven’t increased our clay prices in the last several years, however due to these rising costs we do need to increase the cost of clay.
The cost of clay will increase by $5 for Bmix, Porcelain, and Brown. Studio recycle (speckle and brown 12.5 lb bags) will continue to stay the same since most of that cost is for staff time and not supplies. This will go into effect Monday morning, August 25th.
