Hi! I went to put coffee in one of my new tumblers and it's almost unbearably hot to the touch. Is this normal for hand made items vs store bought? Or are the walls too thin etc?

Has anyone tried making double-walled tumblers? I've been meaning to try it out but unsure how it works with firing (would it explode with the air trapped between the two layers?)
